Project Name
Lewisham
Greenway Tunnels
Scope of works
The Lewisham Greenway Tunnels project, situated adjacent to a live rail station, was a complex undertaking involving cutting-edge techniques and meticulous execution. The scope of the project included advanced suitability and acceptance testing, innovative use of hollow bar anchors, and comprehensive shotcrete application, all completed within a stringent one-month timeline.
Suitability and Acceptance Testing:
Suitability Tests: Conducted on sacrificial anchors using hollow bars, a first for Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW). The tests, executed by O'Sullivan's, demonstrated exceptional results, achieving loads up to 470 kN, exceeding the working load by over 700%.
Acceptance Tests: Three anchors were tested per level to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Shotcrete Works:
- Stage 1: Application of a temporary steel layer, followed by a sprayed accelerant.
- Stage 2: Application of the permanent shotcrete layer over the temporary layer. This process involved spraying an accelerant over the shotcrete to enhance its setting and curing.
Permanent Anchors:
Installation of hollow bar anchors, marking the first use of this technology for a TfNSW rail project.
Site Constraints:
Work was conducted next to a live rail station, within a live rail corridor, adding complexity and requiring precise coordination to avoid disruptions.
Timeline:
All works were completed within a tight one-month schedule, highlighting the efficiency and effectiveness of the project team.
